Couples therapy

Two people, one shared pattern — and room for both.

Couples work for partners who want to understand what's happening between them — not decide who's to blame for it.

A balanced approach

No one is the problem. The pattern is.

Therapy here holds both partners with equal care. Instead of identifying a 'difficult one,' we look together at the cycle you've built between you — how it starts, how it escalates, and how it could go differently.

Cheryl is Gottman-trained, which means the work is structured around research on what actually helps couples — sound relationship house principles, tools for dialogue, and concrete ways to repair. That structure is held lightly, in service of your particular relationship rather than a formula.

You'll be invited to show up as two people on the same team, even when you're hurting. The aim is a connection that can hold disagreement without breaking, and a sense of choice about how you move forward together.

What couples work on

The ground we cover together.

Communication & feeling heard

Finding the words for what you mean — and learning how to really hear each other.

Recurring conflict

Understanding the arguments you keep having and what happens underneath them.

Emotional connection

Rebuilding closeness, responsiveness, affection, and friendship.

Defensiveness & repair

Learning what happens when one or both of you go on guard — and how to come back after hard moments.

Patterns you brought with you

Understanding how family, culture, past relationships, and early experiences shape the relationship you're in now.

Building something different

Creating healthier ways of relating instead of automatically repeating what you grew up around.
